Response from Tatiana Kononov, Revision Skincare

Butyloctyl salicylate is not a harmful ingredient however it is considered a chemical sunscreen and NOT required by the FDA to be listed as an active ingredient. It is disingenuous to say that a product is 100% mineral sunscreen when it contains Butyloctyl Salicylate in the inactive ingredient list. Also, because it is a chemical SPF filter it can also help boost the level of SPF. This further makes it unclear of how much the product’s SPF is contributed from the active ingredients (titanium, Zinc, etc.) vs. Inactive ingredients (butyloctyl salicylate).

We took the very difficult path to get to the right destination. My team and I spent 10 years developing the comprehensive moisturizer with over 20 anti-aging ingredients to be the FIRST to contain a 100% all-mineral SPF with absolutely no hidden chemical sunscreens. When developing Intellishade® TruPhyscial™, Revision Skincare® chose not to use Butyloctyl Salicylate, a sometimes hidden chemical sunscreen found in many products marketed all-physical. We believe in providing skincare professionals products that don’t take shortcuts to deliver clinically-proven results. This is a remarkable industry first.
